The National Insurance Institute (INS) decided to carry out training courses known as eLearning, to train its personnel in two very important areas.
The first is the use of new software to manage insurance policies for damages. The second are the new internal control procedure issued by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
“The training is linked to our critical areas,” pointed out Alejandro Alpírez, the person in charge of the training program from the personnel department at INS.
It is precisely in the face of the need to update employees, the fast changing markets that you have to rely upon eLearning courses.
But, you have to do it carefully. “Companies should not use eLearning processes only because it is in vogue,” warned Sandra Coto, educational manager for Oracle de Centroamérica S.A.
In fact, this topic was discussed last week during the second International Congress on Human Resources, held at Herradura Hotel.
Priorities
According to Rafael Cordero, commercial vice-president for Aura Interactiva, eLearning courses should be developed in areas that are strategically significant and highly profitable. “This is advisable in areas where competition is fierce,” stated Cordero.
Furthermore, course implementation should be planned and adjusted to company strategies.
This planning includes the definition of course objectives, expected benefits, a competitive advantage, a pilot plan, and an evaluation.
