The application market supply is huge. At first, local software developers produced customized solutions for national firms and then they sold these solutions in the Latin American market. Soon after, software transnational companies entered the market by adapting their solutions to regional company requirements. Both groups, each with different weaknesses and strengths, have been ranked among the top 50operating in Central America and the Caribbean. The list is not extensive (Costa Rica alone has over 150 software companies) and was developed based on the criteria by 10 experts whose names have not been disclosed.
